There’s that saying: how the teacher becomes the student and the student the teacher.
After years of painting out west, Frank returned to the south, and solicited Matt’s help on a coastal custom résidence and compound in Mount Pleasant, SC. That re- ignited their collaboration, and cemented their complementary artistic and technical talents, that coalesced into the pursuit of working together for the good of the community, and led to the formation of SVX.
That special relationship of student and teacher transformed into an award-winning firm serving diverse client needs, creating a diverse project portfolio. Matt and Frank’s combined architectural experience of 55+ years, provides a vast breadth of expertise in all project phases: architectural design, interior architecture, urban design, planning, as well as intimate knowledge of the complex processes of building a project, from permitting to construction oversight, for successful completion down to the final detail.
SVX Architects are credentialed consultants who command the design process to provide ease of mind and expertise to alleviate potential obstacles or impediments impacting the realization of the original project concept.
SVX Architects delivers exceptional outcomes from two imaginative architects that see every project as unique. Every project takes them ‘hands on’, without preconceived ideas or styles, pulling from a project program derived from all aspects possible. They consider everything from the client’s spatial needs and their subjective feelings to the more objective, such as site analysis criteria, whether natural or urban, and building code analysis. The goal is always to go beyond mere accommodation of the program, and to discover the project scope with the spirit of creativity, pursuing multiple ideas, developing the strong ones, and together with the client’s input, elevating the best design solution to one that is special! "We spoke to a number of well-known Atlanta-based architects before selecting SVX for our renovation project. Frank and Matt attentively listened to our ideas as they worked them into an initial rendering. After two passes, we aligned on the final remodel concept and awaited the final plans. With those in hand, we turned the project over to our builder as SVX kept a close look to ensure the finished project aligned with the vision we embraced for our 23 year old home.
After 13 months we were ready to move back in. The completed remodel included new roof lines, a new deck, relocated laundry, and updated exterior design.
